Who Runs It and Who Tends to Show Up

This is a public workforce fair, not a staffing-agency pitch. Yolo County announced the October 22 fair as a countywide event aimed at Yolo County job seekers, and it's organized by YoloWorks! through the county's Health and Human Services Agency and Workforce Innovation Board.

We could not confirm this year's employer roster before publishing, so here is the honest benchmark: last October's fair listed nearly 60 employers. That list mixed public agencies (the City of West Sacramento, Yolo County Human Resources, Sacramento Regional Transit, the Postal Service, several school districts and state departments) with private employers like Sutter Health, Nugget Markets, FedEx Freight, Patelco Credit Union and Bank of America, plus union apprenticeship programs for carpenters, laborers and Teamsters. Expect a similar mix, but treat that as last year's lineup, not a promise about Thursday.

Last year's fair covered full-time, part-time and seasonal work. If you're between jobs in Davis, Woodland or West Sac, few events put this many local options in one room.

⚠️ Read This Before You Drive Over

Two things worth knowing. First, the county frames this as a fair for Yolo County job seekers. We didn't find a published residency requirement, but if you live across the river in Sacramento County, it's worth a quick call before you go. Second, the employers attending haven't announced how many openings they're filling or what they pay. Ask directly at each table.

Questions about Thursday can go to YoloWorks!. Last year's announcement listed program coordinator Faisal Alfatly at (530) 431-6022 as the contact.

📋 How to Show Up Ready

  • Pre-register. It's encouraged, and it shortens the line at the registration table.
  • Bring printed resumes. The county specifically encouraged attendees to bring them last year. Ten copies is not too many.
  • Arrive early. Three hours goes fast when popular tables have lines.
  • Know what you want. Public sector, healthcare, trades apprenticeship or a warehouse shift? Hit those tables first.
  • Carry ID and a pen. You'll want both if an employer asks you to fill out an application on the spot.
