SacJobs Fall Career Fair Nov. 5: State, County and School Employers Hiring in East Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA — The SacJobs Fall Career Fair returns to the Scottish Rite Center in East Sacramento on Thursday, November 5, and the employer list already reads like a directory of the region's steadiest paychecks. Caltrans, SMUD, Sacramento Regional Transit, Sacramento County, Placer County, Elk Grove Unified and a long line of state departments had signed on as of this weekend, with more tables still being sold.
Free to attend, open to the public, and one of the biggest single-day doors into government and school jobs in the capital region this fall.

🔥 Who's Recruiting
As of October 10, the organizer listed 36 confirmed employers and said it expects more than 50 by fair day. Public agencies dominate the list, which is good news for anyone chasing a pension, set raises and a job that doesn't vanish after the holidays.
- State of California: Caltrans, EDD, Covered California, the Department of Finance, Department of General Services, Department of Insurance, Department of Industrial Relations, Department of Developmental Services, the State Controller's Office and the California Public Utilities Commission.
- Counties and cities: Sacramento County, Placer County, Yolo County Human Resources and the City of West Sacramento.
- Public safety: the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office and Probation Department, plus sheriff's offices from Alameda, San Francisco and San Joaquin counties, Napa State Hospital police, and the Navy's Golden Gate recruiting group.
- Schools and child care: Elk Grove Unified, Folsom Cordova Unified, the Sacramento County Office of Education, Natomas Charter School, Think Together, NorCal School of the Arts, Advance Kids and ChildCare Careers.
- Utilities, transit and private employers: SMUD, Sacramento Regional Transit, Verizon, AAA Mountain West Group, Pacific HomeCare Services, Alta California Regional Center and Point Quest.
SacJobs has not posted a list of specific openings or a hiring count for any employer, so treat each table as a conversation, not a guaranteed offer. The roster also changes as employers register. Check it again the week of the fair.
📋 How to Show Up Ready
- Print 15 to 20 resumes. That is the organizer's own recommendation, and with this many tables you will use them.
- Practice a 30-second introduction. Who you are, what you do, what you want next.
- Dress business casual. Public agencies often hire through formal interview panels, so first impressions carry.
- Bring a pen and notepad. Write down names and next steps, then follow up within 48 hours.
Career coaches and resume reviews will be on site, along with coffee and food vendors.
Two Other Fairs to Keep Straight
Different event, different day, different crowd. The same Scottish Rite building hosts the SacJobs Construction & Trades Career Fair on Wednesday, October 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. That one is built for electricians, laborers and apprentices. If you're mainly after a state job, CalHR's Work4CA Winter Career Fair lands at Cal Expo five days later, on Tuesday, November 10.
